How to set up your own Dinner Co-op

What’s a Dinner Co-op?

A dinner co-op is when a group of people provide dinner for one another on a regular basis.

Dinner co-ops mean that you can enjoy the joys of cooking - but not every night.  Other nights a homemade dinner arrives ready to go, and the time you would spend cooking can be spent entirely on something else.  It is magical.

What will the workshop be like?

In this workshop I will go over how we arranged our dinner co-op, stories from other dinner co-ops, what we do to maintain it, what helps it work, challenges, and what you need to know to move forward setting one up of your own.  You can expect the workshop to take up to two hours.

How do I set one up?

To set up a workshop contact Sam to arrange dates and details.

Typically you would find a space (your living room?), invite some families (friends? people in your community? people from a Facebook group?), if desired hire a competent young person to do childcare support, and arrange for me to be there.  The host family provides some refreshments. Visiting families provide some money to Sam and to the child care support person.

Who I am?

I am an educator who specializes in democratic and co-created learning structures.  I live and work in collaborative community. We started our dinner co-op in 2016 as an extension of our child care co-op.  It may well be the best thing we have ever done.
